“God abeg,” I muttered to myself for what felt like the thousandth time. Exams were around the corner, and no matter how hard I tried, nothing seemed to make sense.
Equations refused to balance. Theorems felt like a different language. Every page of my textbook looked like gibberish. I honestly wondered if whoever invented exams was just… cruel.
“I just can’t anymore,” I whispered, slamming my book shut. I flopped onto my bed, feeling defeated.
Then, a thought came to me—the story of Daniel. How he stood out among his peers. And how, as a child of God, failure wasn’t something I had to accept.
I opened my Bible, flipping to the book of Daniel, and one verse jumped out at me:
Daniel 1:17
“As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.”
Everything clicked. I had been relying on my own wisdom, my own understanding, and expecting myself to do it all. I realized it was time to lean fully on God.
With my heart open, I prayed:
“Abba, have Your way in me. Manifest Your wisdom through my mind. Holy Spirit, please teach me all I need to know.”
And in that moment, peace came. Clarity came. Hope came.
Takeaway:
Sometimes, no matter how hard we try, our own effort isn’t enough—and that’s okay. Like Daniel, we can ask God to step in, guide our minds, and open our understanding. Trusting Him doesn’t mean we stop working; it means we stop carrying the weight alone. So, the next time you feel stuck or overwhelmed, remember: wisdom is a gift, and you don’t have to earn it by yourself.
